1Capt. John1 I'Anson; b. before 1467; date estimated on assumption he must have been over 18 to fight with Henry of Richmond at Bosworth in 1485. Place of birth unknown; m. (--?--) (--?--) circa 1500 Hauxwell?, NRY, ENG; d. before 1547 Ulverston, LAN, ENG; 1547 'terminus ante quem' - end of Henry VIII's reign in whose service he died.

He According to Bryan I'Anson, John appears to have settled in Hauxwell, near Richmond, shortly after the accession of Henry of Richmond to the throne of England as Henry VII. He is thought to have come to England with Henry at the time of the Battle of Bosworth in 1485.

"An old record" apparently states that he was the commander of a man-of-war in the reign of Henry VIII, although "some writers" wrongly ascribe this to his son James whose will describes him as a Vintner of Cornhill and is dated 1584, during Elizabeth I's reign. He was Capt.Man-o-War of Hy VIII. He College of Arms record of Herald's Visitations names only two sons: Christopher and James after 1505.

He was a Vintner residing in Cornhill:
1. All early records of the Vintners' Company were destroyed in the Great Fire of London 1666.
2. James was probably apprenticed to the Vintners' Company in London, possibly to Alexander Carlyll (of the Sewarby Carlylls of Yorkshire)
3. His eventual father-in-law, William Carlyll was related to Alexander Carlyll, Master of the Vintners' Company in 1561 (the year of his death).

He entered Trinity College 1570  -- gained his B.A between 1574 and 1575 Trinity College, Cambridge, CAM. He was Chaplain at Trinity: to Queen Elizabeth I?? between 1577 and 1581 Trinity College, Cambridge, CAM. He gained his M.A. in 1578 Trinity College, Cambridge, CAM. He was later a Rector. An interesting pamphlet has been preserved entitled "A View of the State of the Clergie within the County of Essex" which contained the following reference to Sir Lancelot:"Mr Janson, vicar, there [Heybridge] preacheth sildome; he is also p[ar]son. at Langford, he is resident at Highbridge, he disliketh that his p[ar]ishoners should go to sermons elsewhere when he preacheth not, and envyeth the preachers to whom they goe" circa 1581 Langford, ESS. He was Rector after 1581 Heybridge, ESS.

He was knighted by Viscount Falkland on 14 Dec 1624 IRL. He was Groom of the Bedchamber to Charles I after 1625. He was living in circa 1633 LDN, ENG. He was Recorded as a Merchant of London in 1633. He was baronetcy Warrent from Charles I for a baronetcy. +

It is recorded that Bryan I'Anson raised £10,000 and a regiment of horse which he took to King Charles I before Edgehill, for which service he was given his baronetcy in 1642. He followed the new king, Charles II to France after Feb 1649 France.     Baronetcy confirmed by Charles II from the Louvre Paris in 1652.
